In the story "Ratfish", the main character is an illegal immigrant, a house painter who lives traumatized by the unrelenting harassment from the INS. Two word "ratfish", as it can be clear seen, is a new coinage composed of two words: rat and fish, two images from the animal kingdom that suggest multitudinous, furtive being who are simultaneously looked for and driven back.
